Did The New York Times Do It Again?!!

Right now over at the Drudge Report, there is this flash in the top of the right hand column (in red):

SOURCES: BUSH ANGER AT COMING NEW YORK TIMES STORY DETAILING HUNT FOR BIN LADEN... The newspaper is planning to expose a 'highly classified Pentagon order' authorizing Special Operations forces to hunt al-Qaida leader in mountains of Pakistan... DEVELOPING....

Did they do it? and will the story be on the front page?

If this is the case, this is a repeat offender that does not give a rip about national security and is deliberately sabotaging our war efforts. There is not another explanation.

When will somebody go to jail!

... to me why we cannot arrest the publisher, the editor and the so-called "jouralists" of that treasonous rag?

At the very least they are endangering the troops involved in these operations.

It is long past time to frog-march Sulzberger and company out of the building and into a federal detention facility somewhere in central Alaska --- and "accidently" loose the keys.

If this is true. by Brandozilla

They should be charged with treason. Has anyone found any more info other than drudge's blurb?

Something the administration knows darn well, can be done and it has not been done, yet. If it is done before anymore national security issues are spilled by the traitors, there won't be anymore spilled. Our country deserves it NOW. I spoke elsewhere in this site, of a window of opportunity. How many more leaked secrets, compromised national security operatives and outright treasonous acts are going to happen before it is all stopped? If our President is so mad, he can stop it. And he knows VERY WELL HE CAN.

The newly installed government in Pakistan has authorized military action in part of the tribal areas.

President Bush has authorized special forces operations to find Bin Laden, possibly including cross-border action into Pakistan (Nothing new there).

What happens if Bin Laden is found?....

Before Denver?

Regarding the NYTimes' behavior: In the middle of a presidential campaign, they just placed national security front and center.

What were they thinking?

“Well, the trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isn't so.” – Ronald Reagan

Maybe they thought they were giving Obama an opening to crow about Bush taking his advice and invading Pakistan.

***

“Well, the trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isn't so.” – Ronald Reagan

from spinning a secretly-permitted incursion as a variation on his proposal. If the incursion had remained secret and resulted in the death or capture of Bin Laden, Osama's chances of winning would drop drastically. The NYT has just given a heads-up to Obama, sabotaged the operation and damaged US-Pakistan relations all in one fell swoop.

someone to prison for this than shame on him....this is treason and the person who who gave this information to the treasonous times should be given life in jail....there cannot be that many who have this information.

... that you are correct. New tone will be the chosen path and once again, nothing will be done. It makes me want to vomit.

I agree that those who leak classified information like this must be "outed" & punished. Regardless of being the "Newspaper of record," the NY Times is continuing to lose readership & ad revenue - however, I'm not sure if this is punishment enough. I think, though, that the head of this snake is those who leak the information - much like the drug exporting cartels are the head of that snake.

National Security he would have the DoJ empanel a Federal Grand Jury and call the writers, editors and publisher of the Times and ask them for the name of their source(s). Assuming they aren't forthcoming with names they should be held in contempt and jailed. Were it my choice I wouldn't send them to Gitmo, I'd ship 'em to Rykers Island and put 'em in general population.

Bottom line is they probably can't be prosecuted for printing classified info but they can be held indefinitely on contempt. If they give up their source(s), those folks can be prosecuted and the Times would never get info again.
